Scholarships

It is anticipated that scholarships for IPMEN’08 registration, accommodation and travel to Townsville will soon be available. Priority for full scholarships will be given to prospective delegates from low income countries in the Pacific (World Bank ranking) and to other small island developing countries in the Pacific. Based upon availability, partial scholarships may also be offered. All scholarship applications will be considered.

To express interest in securing one of these scholarships please download and complete the Scholarship Application Form then return it via email (as an attachment saved as ipmensch plus the first 4 letters of your last name .doc) or fax to:

Other important notes

Note 1: Scholarship applications close on June 30, 2008 (no late applications) and notification of acceptance or otherwise will be sent to you by July 25, 2008.
Note 2: A referee will be required so please fill in your referee’s contact details in the application form or attach a letter of support to your Scholarship Application Form.
Note 3: All scholarship applicants are required to submit a paper at the conference so please submit a Call For Papers Form and note that you are applying for a scholarship on this form.
Note 4: Also, please submit a Registration Form and note that you are applying for a scholarship on this form.
Note 5: Finally, we request that you research your flights to and from Townsville yourself and fill in the appropriate details on your Scholarship Application Form (see notes below).

Your proposed flight details

Note1: As international IPMEN’08 delegates would most likely fly to Townsville via Brisbane, Sydney or Cairns, you should look carefully at connecting flights to Townsville to make sure you arrive in Townsville on October 16.
Note2: As scholarship funds will be limited we respectfully request that you opt for the most direct and economical flights. However, in line with the “walk the (environmental) talk” conference policy we also ask you to consider opting for an airline that offers carbon offsets (include this cost in your request for airfares).
Note 3: All delegates, other than Australian and New Zealand citizens, will need a valid visa or authority to enter Australia. Details of how to apply are on the IPMEN’08 web site under Travel to Townsville.
