IPMEN’08 Delegate Sponsors

This package is aimed at IPMEN’08 delegates who can afford conference registration and accommodation in Townsville but are unable to fund their travel to Townsville. The IPMEN'08 conference committee therefore encourage such delegates to approach local businesses, Rotary clubs or similar organizations in their own location for funding support for the cost of travel to Townsville.

• Delegate Sponsorship would be for (full) travel expenses only. As a result, delegates would be encouraged to cover the conference registration and accommodation in Townsville (a range of accommodation options available, including backpacker accommodation at $20 to $23 per person per night) themselves.
• Delegates seeking this sponsorship would be asked to find their own local sponsor organisation and to research the funds required plus flight details themselves. Preliminary research suggests $2,500 to as high as $3,000 for flights from continental north America or Hawaii to Townsville.
• The IPMEN’08 committee will provide a letter of support to appropriate delegates and there would be a specific package of benefits for sponsoring organisations (see below).

If you decide to take part in this IPMEN’08 travel sponsorship scheme, here’s what you should do:

1. Research your air fares, travel dates etc. plus start the hunt for potential Delegate Sponsor organisations in your area.
2. Contact Harry Breidahl at nautilused@optusnet.com.au to confirm that you will be seeking Delegate Sponsorship and provide a brief summary of your preliminary research.
3. We will then email (or post if required) you a letter of support from the IPMEN’08 conference committee plus a summary Delegate Sponsorship information sheet.
4. Once you secure the sponsorship your sponsoring organisations’ details would be added to our web site etc.

Delegate Sponsor benefits

• Your logo, (and web link) displayed on the IPMEN’08 website.
• Your logo displayed on all IPMEN’08 printed materials (pre-during-post conference) and conference proceedings (to be produced as a DVD or CD).
• Acknowledgement at the official conference opening and closing sessions.
• The delegate that you sponsor will be provided with a support package and encouraged to either speak about or write an article about the IPMEN’08 conference and the role of this developing network will take in working towards a sustainable Ocean.
• The opportunity to support local community involvement in this wonderful networking opportunity with 100 of the Pacific’s leading marine environmental educators and some of the world’s leading marine identities.
